Riau Book - Acting Governor of Riau Arsyadjuliandi Rachman and Riau Islands Governor HM Sani signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to the development of creative economy and tourism in both provinces.

Hopefully, through the memorandum of understanding either Riau Province or Riau Islands Province will be a partner that could jointly promote the potential of each destination in both local tourism objects, as well as it has already been done between Bali and Lombok.

"At present we are accentuating the tourism sector development in Riau. We hope the tourism potential which is spread in the district / city in the future will be able to support the economy in Riau," said Acting Governor commonly called by Andi Rachman, Thursday (25/2 / 2016).

He said the potential of tourism in the Lancang Kuning country actually could compete with other provinces that has already endowed with natural attractions. However, if the potential that exists today is done with a maximum, it is possible for Riau also be able to 'sell' to other areas, including foreign countries in tourism sector.

Riau has been worldwide cultural attractions, such as the Siak Royal Palace Destinations and Muara Takus temple in Kampar. These two destinations that had historical heritage is also supported other destinations like Bakar Tongkang in Bagansiapi-api, Pacu Jalur in Teluk Kuantan, Beach in North Rupat.

Indeed, according to Andi, to make up the tourism potential really become the foundation of economy, there should be a maximum effort to develop the travel destinations as well as the neighboring province namely Riau Islands and West Sumatra. Riau province continues to build synergy among related agencies including promotional efforts which conducted by the provincial government.

While the Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Deparment (Disparekraf) of Riau, Fahmizal Usman expressed through the MoU already signed by the two heads of the region, both Riau and Riau Islands provincial government will support each other and be able to promote tourism destinations in Riau and Riau Islands.

In addition, through this cooperation will also be able to bridge the tourists who visit the Riau Islands to Riau. This memorandum of understanding that has been done would be the first step efforts to promote tourism in Riau in order to make the tourism become the prominence sector n Riau.

"We, each other have supporting destinations. Perhaps, there will be flow path from the Riau Islands to Riau. It could be mutual promotion in each other side," said Fahmizal.

Post the signed MoU, Fahmi said his department will immediately follow up, including improving and developing the creative economy in order to support tourism in Riau. (RB)
