"After the wellhead worker drilled into 20 meters, the water had started to come out. But at the same time they also smells like the smell of gas coming out of the water," said Irawan citizens of Bantan Sari told reporters on Monday (04/01/2015) night.

According to Irawan, because feeling weird, workers stop drilling. They also revoke the eight pipe that has been planted.

He said, because he felt curious and wanted to prove that smell wafted out of wells drilled was gas indeed, he and his friend tried to burn the wellbore.

"At first I want to directly burn the wellbore but my friend forbidden me. He suggested to cover the hole with a bucket and installed new tube which given funnel which used for mosque dome before," he said.

He explained, after doing what his friend suggested and burned it, it was fired and until now, the fire could not be stopped. "Shortly after that happen, people began to come to see the fire from the gas," he explained.

Bantan Bengkalis police chief AKP Ermanto justified the drilling of well in the mosque Nurul Yakin yard in Batan Sari Village, subdistrict Bantan, spouting out of gas.

AKP Ermanto explained, currentlt that location of the wellbore that emit gases already sterilized by placing a police line to anticipate unintended things occurred

"We've put the police line, and already sterilized that site," the police chief said on Tuesday (05/01/2016).

"In addition, we also asked people not come near the location, because it was feared there is toxic gas," he said then.

Previously, Monday afternoon (01/04/2016), the wellhead workers were drilling boreholes to make an artesian well, suddenly it wafted out of gas and they were forced to stop drilling activities. (RB/rls)
