Riau Book - PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (Chevron) in its collaboration with Yayasan Sahabat Cipta held a regeneration and training for craftsmen of woven pandanus in Balai Adat Sakai District of Minas Siak Riau Province.

"This training program is part of Promoting Integrated Farming and Small Enterprise (PRISMA), attended by 10 citizens of Sakai tribe who live around the company," said Team Manager - PGPA Minas, Darmawan in a release received Thursday afternoon.

"Thanks to Chevron who has provided assistance to guide the community in the running of this program," said Secretary Head Minas, Hendra.

He explained that the program is aligned with the vision of the Regent Siak which emphasized Siak can become a tourist center in Sumatra, religious tourism, cultural tourism and nature tourism.

Separately, representing the management of Chevron, Team Manager - PGPA Minas, Darmawan, expressed his gratitude to see the development program of Sakai craft in Minas.

"This program is one of the company's concern surrounding communities. We also express gratitude for all parties involved for their participation in supporting the PRISMA program, particularly in the training of woven pandanus handicrafts made by the Sakai community."

Regeneration of craftsmen woven pandanus is one Chevron support to the populist economic which is being promoted by the government. Providing assistance aims to empower the economy, preserve culture and enhance the local potential.

In the PRISMA program, he added, Chevron in collaboration with implementing partners to conduct training, supporting equipment deployment program and assistance in the field to improve the ability of communities in running the business.

Currently, he said, PRISMA has been rolling in some areas such as the Chevron operation in Rokan Hilir, Bengkalis, Siak, Kampar Regency and Dumai. (RB / rls)
