Riau Book - As a local development bank for provinces of Riau and Riau Islands which was familiar with the Malay culture, Bank Riau-Riau (BRK) has commitment to carry out values of Malay culture which is based on Islamic values without leaving modernity in banking world. This is manifested by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the BRK and the Indonesian waqaf Board (BWI) Branch Office in Tanjung Pinang on Thursday (02/18/2016).

The memorandum of understanding between the two sides was signed by the CEO of Bank Riau-Kepri DR Irvandi Gustari and the Indonesia Waqaf Board Chairman of province of Riau Islands, H Razali Jaya. This event was also witnessed by the Commissioner of Bank Riau-Kepri HR Mambang Mit, Tanjung Pinang Syariah Branch Helwin Yunus, Secretary of BWI for Riau Islands Province Zaruddin Erman, and the elder member of Nazir BWI Riau Islands Drs Husaini.

MoU was signed by both party aims to provide convenience in service waqaf in money deposit receipt, disbursement of funds and reporting cash waqaf endowments. Waqaf itself in its function as a provision for wakif worship in the world and the hereafter which is a charity waqaf reward flowed as long as waqaf property utilized.

In some Muslim countries today, the object of waqaf is not dominated and limited to fixed assets such as land and buildings, but thrive on unfixed assets such as cash money and other securities. Therefore, Bank Riau-Riau Islands in order to support and facilitate the public in granting wakaf, with a touch of modernity banking services, now people can distribute their wakaf in the form of money to the Bank Riau-Riau Islands.

Only by distributing cash money of waqaf in Syariah Office Network of Bank Riau-Riau Island, the endowment fund will be forwarded and managed by the Indonesian Waqaf Board to be used accordingly.

BWI itself is an independent agency established by Law No. 41 of 2004 on Waqaf in order to promote and develop national waqaf. Management is appointed directly by the President. BWI's Regional Office of Riau Islands province, chaired by the former Represented Ministry of Religion for Riau Islands Province, Drs H Razali Jaya.

In his speech, Razali explained that BWI now has presented in 25 provinces in Indonesia. For Riau Islands Province alone, Office BWI officially opened on February 15, 2012 and has developed a variety of programs such as rental Boarding House Muslim (RKM) as a form to enables the Muslim community in the search for RKM, build Mini Market Halal (MMH) as Muslim products in development cash money waqaf funds as well as to build a hospital in an effort to provide health services to the people.

Furthermore Razali explained that for the delivery of cash money waqaf, BWI just cooperated and entrusted two (2) service banks namely Bank Riau-Riau Island and Bank Muamalat.

In response this, President Director of Bank Riau-Riau Islands, DR Irvandi Gustari, said that Bank appreciated the trust that delivered by BWI Riau Islands province to Bank Riau-Riau Islands. Irvandi hope for the future cooperation would not be created only services and banking services only. Irvandi expect in the future the two sides continue to explore the opportunities and continue to work in synergy in order to create greater solid synergy in providing convenience for Muslims in worship.

Focus Bank Riau Kepri in carrying the Riau-Kepri Malay culture is based on Islam. It is proved by the launching of Cash Offices Bank Riau-Riau Islands which is located in Building Siskohat Haji Integrated Services Siak District, Riau Province a few days ago. This is done in order to further facilitate the public in the registration of Hajj or Pilgrims.

Bank Riau-Riau Islands itself is one of the Beneficiary's Bank Deposit Cost Hajj (BPS BPIH) among 17 banks in Indonesia and one of the eight BPD throughout Indonesia. Public confidence in the Hajj registration services of Bank Riau Kepri increased and it proved by the increasing of pilgrims who make deposits and take out the portion of the pilgrimage in Bank Riau-Riau Islands.

In 2013 there are 2,540 pilgrims, and 2,606 pilgrims in 2014 and 2015 as many as 3,030 worshipers. Bank Riau-Riau Islands is ready to work together and be partners of religion department of District in Riau Province to provide the integrated Hajj services. (RB/yan/rls)
